Under the U2, Eberswalder station, Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg

I was drawn to this beautiful subway station in my neighhourhood (I am currently living and working in Berlin for 3 months to explore the art and culture of this city). I sketched it from below.

Later that night I watched the very touching documentary „Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg“ by Petra Tschörtner, and to my surprise, repeated scenes of this very subway station figure prominently as a symbol of this old district of former East Berlin in the 3 months of 1990 leading up to the monetary union of East and West Germany. If you speak German or are from Germany, it’s well worth watching this 80-minute film. An amazing piece of recent German history.
